T Shirt Screen Printing
T-shirt printing has come a very long way since the original (and now iconic) 1950s Disney t shirt designs! From the beginning though, the main method of t-shirt printing has been that of screen printing, and whilst other processes such as digital or direct to garment print are now developing (and enabling much smaller print runs), t shirt screen printing has been the mainstay of the t-shirt printing industry for over 60 years.
Screen printing is also known as silk screening and is essentially a very simple technique that uses a mesh and a stencil to transfer ink to certain areas of a design. Colour wise, this makes pretty much anything possible with t shirt screen printing, although some colours and finishes are trickier than others to perfect!
T shirt screen printing is also often used in conjunction with other methods of clothing decoration too, such as embroidery and heat transfers. The finished clothing items are incredibly popular and in fact are an ever growing market as they provide such a great vehicle for corporate message and brand identity.
